A little YouTube Action (X Posted) [24 Apr 2007|10:15pm]

shytownmofo
Was poking around on YouTube when I found this Hella-cool Metallica thing from 1985. First Ever performance of the song "Disposable Heroes" from the Master of Puppets album. Now, Compare this with the stuff from Saint Anger, or even Load/Reload. Big Difference. Let's hope the new stuff they're doing with Rick Rubin is half as good. Not that I want Lightning part 2 or anything, but anythings better than St. Anger There were probably only three songs on that album I could get into.

Cliff Burton Sure as Hell was a God on bass, too. Enjoy. BTW, I'm not sure of the Copyrights on this stuff, so if it violates anything, feel free to delete this post, or let me know, and I'll delete it. (AFAIK, It's a Bootleg video from Metal Hammer Fest in 1985, the same show where one of Cliff's Solos, "Horsemen," "Fade" and "Seek" were taken from on Cliff em All)

It really sickens me to know that Metallica went from a decent thrash band in the 80's to a soft-rock commercial joke now. Were they actually fuckin' serious when recording St.Anger? I was laughing through the whole album. When I heard the song "Some Kind Of Monster" I was saying this can't be the same band that did Kill 'em All, Ride The Lighting, Master Of Puppets, ...And Justice For All. Even when Metallica were good back in the 80's, there were still at least a dozen thrash bands that would blow Metallica out of the water. Slayer, Megadeth, Kreator, Overkill, Destruction, Sodom, Testament, and Exodus(for those who don't know this was Kirk Hammett's first band before joining Metallica), just to name a few. I personally think that the black album sucked too, that's when they became commercial, I say fuck Metallica after 1988/1989. They sold out the moment they recorded the pussy ballad "Nothing Else Matters."

For those of you who are much like me--having no life, hahaha--should check this out if looking for a source of entertainment. Myspace users are strongly encouraged to join this group also...

http://groups.myspace.com/METSUCKS

Basically, this group started out much like the one here, but fell prey to a bunch of 13 year old "trolls" who think that Metallica is "s3w d347h m37al!!!one!!!111!!!one!(0n3 iz mah f4vri7 s4w9)!"

Anyway, if you are bored and are desperately searching for a good laugh, look no farther than the above link.

Hey everyone! I just joined due to a tip from a friend on here :) Looks like something I can have fun with especially because I agree with everything it says in the user info. I remember when I first heard St Anger *the song*. It was around 3am and I was seriously wondering if I had accidentally slipped something into my water that night...it was just sad! Anyway....

Hello :)

Hey guys! I thought I would bring some life back to this community with something that I found in July's issue of Metal Hammer. A dissapproving reader showed his displeasure with the publication for "dissing" Metallica multiple times in June's issue.

"Can I just say that St. Anger is not only the best Metallica album, but is also one of the greatest metal releases of the past 30 years. I'm sick of magazines like Hammer constantly running snide putdowns of the album the way you did in Metal Detector (issue 140/June) when you described them as a band who have run out of ideas. If you ask me, the worst Metallica album is 1991's Metallica which is just a bloody pop record, closely followed by the hugely over-rated Master of Puppets and the unlistenable Ride the Lightning. It was only when they made Load that they started to get good. But then, I'm fucking mad me."

AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! When I read this, I could not stop laughing! This emo faggot should go to the newstand and read magazines like Threat and AP instead of a decent British metal magazine. He should also be dragged out in the street and shot.

Finally, a place to semi-hate this worthless, sellout band! Although the Black Album is still fairly tolerable, it was a major push downhill. I will always listen to the older shit and reminisce about the days when they dominated the metal scene. My favorite album was Ride the Lightening. I still had faith up to two years ago with St. Anger because it was rumored to be different from Load and Reload; I regret wasting my money on that piece of shit. I could barely give it away, let alone get cash for it. Here's an idea--instead of wasting your money on group therapy, do the music industry a huge favor and call it quits. Let's face reality...you're washed up!

i am just posting to say that the black album really blows and thus, i am wondering why this community is called after 1991 because that albums blows just as much as any of there 90s and younger albums. The only good years were in the 80s.

hey check out the band Ascendant on their myspace site. They have 3 songs on the site, although outdated and featuring no drums.

http://www.myspace.com/ascendant

They're mostly thrash, with many prog influences.

To keep it Metallica-related, anyone happen to view the Some Kind Of Monster DVD? I was appalled.

Metallica and Bob Rock petition [18 Jan 2005|07:07am]

peacefulmike
I too am not thrilled with anything Metallica has done after And Justice For All...

I don't know how you all feel about this, but I figured I would post it anyway.  I personally am not a fan of anything Bob Rock has done for Metallica as producer.  I would like Metallica to drop Bob and there is a petition people can sign to try to urge them to do it.

Check it out here:
http://www.petitiononline.com/SaveMet/petition.html

If you agree, add your name to the list.  There are some of us out there who want to see the old Metallica return.

i have the solution to metallica getting better (?)

GET DAVE LOMBARDO

think about it. after slayer records and finishes touring, thats about when metallicunt will wanna go hit trash cans and drop their guitars to drop A again. (haha) in walks ol dave. (not mustaine) he head bashes lars' trash/jamaican cans and then head butts lars himself. since he'll be unconscience, dave will HAVE to do.

you may be asking yourself, "well Metallica has been playing fast lately". well, at least they wont be fast just to be fast. the speed will have MEANING!!!!!!

you may also be asking yourself, "how is having a different drummer gonna make the music better?" first off why would you ask such a question when lombardo is spoken of? but nonetheless, if you've ever heard eraly versions of slayer songs or demos of them, they sound mediocre, if not pretty crappy. then lombardo puts drums to them and they sound ungodly. when kerry king or jeff hannenan wrote stuff, they edited their material to what dave would put to it, for lombardo was a key player in the slayer writing process. i mean listen to their albums after he left, BIG difference.

this shouldnt be a hard task either, especially when considering lombardo filled in for lars a month or so ago when lars had injuries. so theyre all on good terms with each other.

but just remember the tin cans, and you wouldnt CARE who takes for over lars.

I was just wondering since we all lost interest in Metallica (for whatever reasons) What or whom do you listen to now with the same fervor you once held for this once great band of musicians?

Mine lead to progressive rock and metal:

(in no particular order)

1. Ayreon
2. Dream Theater-and various side projects of band members
3. Pain of Salvation
4. Symphony X
5. Spock's Beard
6. Opeth
7. Rush (since the release of Moving Pictures
8. Lacuna Coil
9. Tool
10. The Gathering

Don't be shy, I like learning about new bands!
